A woman from Virginia claims that she was fired from her job because simply she had a concealed carry permit and her story is now going viral on the Internet. As we talk this woman has been quoted for millions of time and almost everyone is in a state of shock after learning the allegations which this woman made on her employers, they fired her because she had a carry permit. The woman was fired from her job as a social worker and she claims that at the time of a termination she was not carrying a weapon.
Storm Durham was a social worker for the city of Roanoke until Friday when she got fired. She posted an update on the social media that she was fired from her job for bearing a legal concealed carry permit and she was escorted out of our office by 3 police officers who learnt about her termination because she was, according to her, deemed as a security risk.
The 22 year old woman later went to her Facebook page and updated her audience about the complete full story. In the lengthy post the gist of which was that she got fired because she was carrying a concealed weapon permit and according to her she was only carrying the permit but was free of any kind of weapon.
“I was fired today due to having a concealed carry permit. Was my gun on me? No. Has it ever been on me during my job, or visits, or anything related to work? No. When I told them that it has never been on me during work, what did they say? ‘How do we know that.’ Search me. Do I have a criminal record? No,” – she wrote
Ms Durham blamed the employers of rogue behaviour, as she stated that she was only 5 feet 2 inches having a weight of 140 pounds and the security was not needed to escort her out of the office. This was in clear violation of the respect and ethical boundaries, she said that she was not a serious safety concern to the building.

I have a concealed carry permit. I own guns. I hunt. I target shoot. I represent Women hunters and outdoorswomen. Does that make me a criminal? Does that make me a safety risk to others? A big enough safety risk to be escorted by three Roanoke City Police officers? So scary and threatening that I need to be treated like a criminal? To be humiliated and looked down upon for owning a gun? For legally having a gun, registering that gun, and having the appropriate documentation for that gun?
Later in her post Ms Durhan said that the employer must be ashamed of the behaviour and the fact must be taken into consideration that an innocent and clean record women was kicked out of her work just because she was holding a concealed weapon permit .
Durham later went live on Facebook and described her story in her own words about what had happened that day when she got fired from her job and according to one interview Mr Durham says that the termination was not legal and she has right to work anywhere according to the state laws.
Update: Turned out that the claims of this woman were false, the city responded and said that the action taken against the woman was not based upon her right to carry the concealed carry permit for firearms. There were other reasons involved, other reasons were cited for her firing, including failure to adhere to dress code and failure to maintain workload standards. We’ll update this story as we hear more.
