Emma Gonzalez who is a senior at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland harangues the crowd and uses her speech at the March for Our Lives rally in Washington to pay a tribute to her classmates who lost their lives in the mass shooting. She even went ahead and recited the names of her class fellows who lost their lives.
However, after the practice she stopped and took a break of four minutes and 26 seconds, she went ahead and remained silent for this entire span of time.
No doubt, Miss Gonzalez has recently emerged as a rather influential person post-Parkland shooting incident. She has mobilized the students against the gun violence. The social media is also roaring to force the government to implement some quick gun control.
She stared straight ahead during the span of her silence. Her eyes were watery and she somehow seemed to be deeply saddened.
Since the time that I came out here, it has been six minutes and 20 seconds,” she said. “The shooter has ceased shooting, and will soon abandon his rifle, blend in with the students as they escape, and walk free for an hour before the arrest.”
“Fight for your lives, before it’s someone else’s job,” she further added. The speech was a poignant display of emotional moments. The students were emotional and they have declared open protest against the government until the leaders in power don’t do things to control the gun violence.
There are people who are against gun-control and the government has to decide a balance between the two groups. Let’s see how people in power enact something which is fine with every group of people from different social and cultural class.
