The U.S. and Russia accused each other for the unsafe actions which caused the two ships belonging to each country come in front of each other, as the American guided-missile cruiser and the Russian destroyer came within 165 feet of each other in the Philippine Sea. The two countries, Russia and America, had spent quite a lot of time in the cold war, back in the days when everything was about capitalism and communism.
What exactly happened in the sea?
The U.S. is going to file a formal diplomatic complaint regarding the situation. The Americans have showed a fierce resolve regarding this encounter, as an official statement has a revealed this incident would not deter America from conducting Naval operations. The safety of USS Chancellorsville and its crew was at risk because of the Russian destroyer, stated the U.S. 7th Fleet. The engines of the US guided missile Cruiser had to be reversed at Full Throttle to avoid the possible collusion. This drill affected the landing of an American Helicopter as the crew got busy in saving their warship. Luckily no one was injured in the encounter.
We consider Russia’s actions during this interaction as unsafe and unprofessional and not in accordance with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS), ‘Rules of the Road,’ and internationally recognized maritime customs. (read the official statement)
USA and China – A cold war of the current times?
If we look at the past, Russia and U.S., the Cold War was an opportunity to create a global financial system that would be far more competitive and more secure, for all of us, on the whole, a capitalist model which now has overtaken every financial system, except in China, North Korea and a few other countries.
The Cold War was a time when we saw the America attempting to become an industrial economy in the developing world. The Americans in a way to remain a step ahead decided to keep innovating the weapons and today it is the world’s number 1 weapon exporter.
There is a lot of skepticism that China is going to be the world’s second largest economy by 2050 and that it is going to be a world leader in the world. The critics normally call it Thucydides trap. Talking about the potential of China to become one of the leading nations in the world, it’s worth noting its capitalist form of external economy, which makes it able to invest in the world and compete in the world. Meanwhile, the domestic economy remains pretty controlled.
The question: Is the Trump’s way of dealing with China a good strategy? As G20 suggest it would lead to economy getting a slow-down in the entire world. Is it a new form of Cold War? Attempting to curb down China using the trade-war tactics? The answer should be left on you.
