Trump administration lifts trophy ban so hunters can continue slaughtering innocent elephants

The Trumps administration has just reversed an order this Thursday which will allow the Hunters to import trophies of elephants killed in two African Nations. The rule with got reversed this Thursday was made in 2014 by the Obama White House and it was in favour of the animals. No hunters were simply able to import trophies of elephants killed in both Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The NBC news reported that one of the guys from fish and wildlife service of United States advocated for the preservation of animals especially the elephants in Zimbabwe and Zambia through the use of proper hunting and management programs as it will surely enhance the survival of the species out in the jungle.

Legal, well-regulated sport hunting as part of a sound management program can benefit certain species by providing incentives to local communities to conserve those species and by putting much-needed revenue back into conservation,” – said the spokesperson for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

The order of the reversal signed by the US government will apply to the elephant hunted in Zimbabwe from 21st of January 2016 to December 31, 2018. However in the case of Zambia the same law of Trophy suppliers for the entire 3 years of 2016, 2017 and 2018. This particular decision of the Trump administration technically over rules 2014 decision passed by the former President Barack Obama. This former decision actually barred the hunters from bringing in the trophy heads of the elephants they killed in Zimbabwe and Zambia. Well, this was meant to help the species survive. It is a fact worth considering that particular kind of African elephant named as Bush elephant is currently enlisted as endangered and is close to extinction.

Zimbabwe and Zambia actually issue annual permits towards the foreign hunters to kill animals like elephants, lions and buffalo and then they earn money through the sporting activities which helps them raise money for conservation. It is a sort of two-way sword that the sports activities help them with money and then it helps them conserve the animals. Well, on the other hand, Barack Obama actually banned that trophy imports in 2014 because these similar Sporting activities made the population of African elephants quite low.

We hope that after consulting with Interior Secretary Zinke, the president will direct the department to maintain a strict ban on any imports of sport-hunted African elephant and lion trophies –

Let’s be clear: elephants are on the list of threatened species; the global community has rallied to stem the ivory trade; and now, the U.S. government is giving American trophy hunters the green light to kill them,” – wrote in a blog post, Wayne Pacelle, the CEO of the Humane Society of the United States.

Trump, later on, Tweeted that let’s put this on hold and try to rethink this law, once again.
