‘All white people are racist’, quite a bold Facebook statement. The person issuing such a statement can be deemed as a racist rather than the entire white community. L’Oreal’s first transgender model gets sacked for writing such stupid statements on the social media. The company didn’t hesitate to eliminate someone releasing extreme statements against a group.
Munroe Bergdorf, 29-year-old, was called as a true face of diversity. She was given a place in the L’Oreal’s latest campaign, ‘YoursTruly True Match’. She is also a DJ and fashion designer.
She lost her role in the campaign after the company stated that her rant was not something the company could bear. That was totally against the values of the company.
She had reportedly written, ‘Honestly I don’t have energy to talk about the racial violence of white people any more. Yes ALL white people.’
‘Because most of ya’ll don’t even realise or refuse to acknowledge that your existence, privilege and success as a race is built on the backs, blood and death of people of colour.’
‘Your entire existence is drenched in racism. From micro-aggression to terrorism, you guys built the blueprint for this s***. Come see me when you realise that racism isn’t learned, it’s inherited and consciously or unconsciously passed down through privilege.
‘Once white people begin to admit that their race is the most violent and oppressive force of nature on Earth… then we can talk.’
‘Until then stay acting shocked about how the world continues to stay f***** at the hands of your ancestors and your heads that remain buried in the sand with hands over your ears.’
The post got deleted later as reported by The Sun. Although the management at L’Oreal already took notice of the model’s comments and views and they took a swift action. L’Oreal is committed to getting all the diversity and they couldn’t bear all this drama where one person was cursing another entire race.
Well, the statement of the model is smart but yet again one shouldn’t express this much openly on the social media. There might be the case that model tried to refer to something more welcoming and open but directly hitting the white people isn’t something good.
