I really tragic incident has happened in which a 6th-grade boy has hung himself after leaving a suicide note saying that he endured years of bullying at school. He hung himself last Tuesday at his family home in South Haven Mississippi. the body of this 12-year-old boy was found by his own 16-year-old brother.
The mother of the 12-year-old victim was interviewed by WREG and she told the media that bullying was rampant at Andrews School, South Haven Middle. She revealed that both of her sons were tortured at this school in the name of fun. The mother told that reportedly there was a group of kids who call on her son and used to tease him by giving him names like fat, ugly and worthless.
The interviewer shocked at the response of this woman asked her if she reported the torturous incidents to the school administration to which she responded in positive and said that, “I only spoke with the school’s 6th-grade principal. I didn’t know how to handle it. His dad did talk to a teacher one time.”
She said that it was not the first incident at the school, a few years ago something similar of nature had happened and the victim at that time was a young girl who hung herself from a water tower just because she was bullied at a regular basis. A Go Fund Me campaign has been created to find the definitive expenses of Andrew.
According to the recent statistic, between one quarter and one-third of your students say that they have been victims of bullying. Suicide is the third leading cause of death for American children between 10 to 14 and it is the second largest cause of death among the individuals ranging from 15 to 24 years of age.
The children must be given the right kind of attention and confidence so that they may not take any drastic step like the one Andrew took, as nothing is more precious than the own self. It is hard to believe that Andrew is no longer among us and the reason he left this world was bullying. The children must not be introduced to the concept of suicide by any means.
