Written by Logical Men

A sister is found comforting her sick brother, who battles Leukaemia, in a rare picture which became viral on the internet. The viewers were so moved by the picture that they started to share it with their friends and family. The picture was shared by the mother of the two, as she wanted to let the world know the travails through which family of a Leukaemia patient goes through. The daughter was found patting the back of her brother in an attempt to ease his struggle.

A little back story would help our readers get more into the details of the picture which is making rounds on the internet. In August 2018, Beckett Burge was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. It’s a type of blood cancer which begins in white blood cells when those are in their young stage. When doctors made the diagnosis the boy was merely two years old. The parents knew that it meant a little challenging journey for the young one.

Since then, the boy has to endure long periods of his time spent in the hospital. He has to undergo both chemotherapy and blood transfusions, as doctors attempt to help him sustain a healthy life. However, the love of his younger sister is incredible. Through the hard time spent, his sister has helped him fly. The support which she provides to her brother is heart breaking as well as unique. The faith in humanity is restored after looking at these two kids.

The support of his sister is just incredible, the two can be seen in a happy mood

Aubrey, his sister, is just 14 months older than Burge, has so far proved her self to be pretty mature as compared to her age. Kaitlin Burge, the mother of the two who is 28yo, has said in a statement that her daughter has developed a pretty unique bond with her son. Aubrey thinks her brother to be her best friend.

Kaitlin further added that the utmost priority of Aubrey is to stay in home and prefer to look after her brother. She wants to keep an eye on his wellness so that Burge may not feel bad at any time. She often skips her play time to give Burge some time. Back in January, Kaitlin shared a picture of Aubrey reassuring her brother as he leaned over the toilet.

A picture taken just before, his sister came to reassure him of her support

Katilin after looking at the dedication of Aubrey towards her brother decided to share her picture. She shared the image with the world to show the importance of strong family bonds if someone faces some challenge during his life. The mother said that her daughter didn’t know what actually she was doing, but she only knew that she had to be with her brother as he was sick. She had also learned those moves through her mother’s experience.

[…] She just picked up from experience and took over. She’d rub his back and tell him it was going to be okay, clean his face up and wash his hands for him.

Kaitlin told Unilad that after her brother had finished visiting toilet, she picked him up and helped him move to the living room. She also cleaned his face and told him that everything was going to be okay.

Mother said that she often fears because of the incredible bond which two of them share in their personal lives.

[…] When I see them together, it makes me happy but at the same time it makes me sad. They have an incredible bond. To this day, they are closer, she always takes care of him.

Kaitlin said that her daughter has a strong penchant for gymnastics but she is unable to visit because of financial strains. She said that she tried to motivate her to go outside and play with other kids, yet she prefers to stay with her brother.

[…] She’s watched a dozen doctors throw a mask over his face, poke and prod him with needles, pump a dozen medications through his body, all while he laid there helplessly.

It’s said that Burge has to undergo two years of more chemotherapy. We wish him and his loving sister all the love.
