President Donald Trump and The Squad is in focus and it appears that Michelle Obama has decided to give her two cents in the matter. Michelle Obama seems to spread a message of harmony for the two groups. The statement seems to remind them that they are Americans first and their personal differences should not weigh more than America. On Friday, she made a tweet mentioning the national harmony of the America and calling it a country which welcomes diversity without much issues.
What truly makes our country great is its diversity. I’ve seen that beauty in so many ways over the years.
Whether we are born here or seek refuge here, there’s a place for us all. We must remember it’s not my America or your America. It’s our America.
The tweets came in the wake of the President Trump’s critique regarding the squad. The issue seems to be escalated especially after Trump supporters chanted “Send her back” after he addressed a rally at his campaign. Trump’s critique was headed towards the four congresswomen who are the hub of the dissenting voices in the America. Ilhan Omar was the one who was born in Somalia and was naturalised as U.S. citizen. The rest of the three congresswomen, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley were born in America.
The House of Representatives which has Democrats in majority voted in the favour of the squad and condemned the stance taken by Trump. Trump in his first tweet had suggested them to go back and had asked Nancy to facilitate their voluntary exit. However, he had not named the squad, until later when the issue escalated and the Trump’s followers started to chant, “send her back,” things were not the same. The media along with certain activists started to take a jibe at Trump for his obdurate stance.
