Kim Kardashian is once again back into the news. In the past, she had pledged to fight for the rights of the prisoners in the US. The people who learned about her commitment had speculated that she would forget her pledge with time. Until recently, she drew the attention of everyone towards her promise of helping prisoners, with her practical action, as Kardashian helped free 17 inmates from the federal prison. She has done all the work of freeing the prisoners quietly. The Decarceration Collective, a non-profit law firm, confirmed this news.
The move was supported by a strong team of women lawyers, who worked in the leadership of Kim Kardashian. Freeing 17 prisoners would not have been possible without Trump’s support for the ‘First Step Act’. This act enables the authorities to shorten the jail time of the prisoners who show good behaviour.
Kim Kardashian had a significant role in this movement. She funded the legal fees of the legal representation. In addition to bearing the legal fees, Kim also provided freed prisoners with transport facility, so that they may have a ride home to their families. One of the lawyers, MiAngel Cody, who had been a part of this team attempting to free the prisoners, praised Kim for her efforts. He said that she supported 17 prisoners’ release from prison. Media Liaison at the Decarceration Collective, Angela Wynn, expressed her happiness because of Kim’s support for the noble cause. The work of this organization has just started as several prisoners need to be freed.
Last year, Kim Kardashian had met president as she attempted to bring reforms in the criminal justice system. She had met Trump in the White House in May 2018. Kim Kardashian discussed the case of Alice Marie Johnson. Miss Marie was a non-violent one-time drug offender who was serving a life sentence. The meeting with Trump yielded positive results, and Miss Marie got released. Inspired by her successful efforts regarding the prisoners’ release, Kim Kardashian is committed to pass the bar exam and become a lawyer.
