2016: Futuristic Fashion with Balmain
The 2016 theme, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” called for something modern. Kardashian showed up in a silver, structured gown by Olivier Rousteing for Balmain. The metallic dress was covered in sequins and fit the futuristic theme perfectly.
Her then-husband Kanye West wore ripped jeans, a crystal-covered jean jacket, and blue contact lenses. Together, they were named the night’s best-dressed couple by Vogue.

2017: Minimalist in Vivienne Westwood
The 2017 theme, “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between,” encouraged creativity. Kardashian went in the opposite direction. Wearing a simple white off-the-shoulder dress by Vivienne Westwood and a sleek bob, she kept things low-key.
“I figured everyone was going to go really over the top and I just wanted to be really simple,” she told Vogue. It was also the first time she attended the gala without Kanye West.

2018: Gilded and Glamorous in Versace
For “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” Kardashian wore a gold metal mesh gown by Versace, adorned with beaded crosses. She added two crystal-covered cross necklaces to finish the look.
Even her daughter, North, approved. Kardashian later said that North told her she wanted to wear the dress to prom.
