Mili Hernandez an 8-year-old girl was disqualified from soccer because she looked like a boy. She always loved to keep small hair, and whenever her hair grew out to be long, she made sure she had a small-hair-cut. She told WOWT 6 News:
When my hair starts to grow I put it short because I’ve always had short hair. I didn’t like my hair long.
Mili plays soccer in a local club, Omaha’s Azzurri Cachorros girls club, where she’s so good that she plays on the 11-year-old roster while she is merely 8-year-old. The girl got some serious skills and because of these skills, she led her team to the final match of Springfield Soccer Club girls tournament but then suddenly she was disqualified. Springfield soccer organisers insisted that she was a boy and she couldn’t take part in the girl’s tournament.
The dad of Mili told media that she was in a deep shock, she started to cry, they made her cry. Mili told media:
Just because I look like a boy doesn’t mean I am a boy. They don’t have a reason to kick the whole club out.
Mili’s family to counter the blame also showed her insurance card to the organisers, but they didn’t accept her as a female.
Mili brother was upset over the situation and he told media that they were not going to listen to them, the organisers had made their mind. He said:
They didn’t want to listen. They said the president made his decision and there wasn’t any changing that.”
Mili wasn’t feeling good about the whole situation and she thought that disqualifying her whole club because she looked like a boy was ridiculous.
Mili’s dad once asked upon his daughter’s passion told media,
It’s what she likes. It’s what she always wants to do – play soccer.
