Lebanon is officially at war with Israel and they have passed a bill to ban every Israeli made product in their country. Both the countries had entered into a cease-fire in 2006. However, despite that, the relations between these countries aren’t in a good state.
Lebanon has called to ban Wonder Woman, not to be released, just because of the lead cast, Gal Gadot is an Israeli.
This country even has an active law that bars the citizens from travelling to Israel or having any form of contact with Israeli citizens. A local newspaper published, the country’s ministry is taking the necessary measures to ban the film from screening.
It’s worth mentioning, at the moment, the ban hasn’t been enforced and premier is ready according to cinema owners in Lebanon. While in the capital city, Beirut, some posters and digital form of promotion have also been spotted.
A six-member committee from the ministry of Lebanon is to be formed to decide on the matter. If the ban goes into play, then that would be the first movie of Gal Gadot to face a ban.
It’s worth mentioning that people are already praising the ministry act of banning the film. Gal Gadot had worked in the Israeli military and also expressed support for the military act against Gaza strip. Gaza is a small strip bordered with Egypt, Israel and Mediterranean sea. It’s currently facing international bans. Hamas is governing this strip as it won the Palestinian legislative elections in 2007.
I am sending my love and prayers to […] all the boys and girls who are risking their lives protecting my country against the horrific acts conducted by Hamas, who are hiding like cowards behind women and children…We shall overcome!!! Shabbat Shalom!
Gadot wrote this in 2004 in a public statement supporting her country, a right which is reserved by every human.
China had earlier banned Suicide Squad because the movie featured some taboo visuals.
